Artillery Centre and School


Brief History


Artillery Center & School (AC&S) was raised on 01 November 1976 at Halishahar, Chittagong. Much before that, from March 1974, School of Artillery was functioning as a separate wing of Combined Arms School (COMBAS) at Jessore Cantonment. On 02 February 1977 the School was relocated to its present location. From 30 April 1981 this prestigious institution is functioning as Artillery Center & School with its full Components. So far, 106 officers from friendly Countries have attended various courses in School of Artillery. Training Regiment started the training of first recruit batch at Kurmitola airport in October 1976. On 3rd November 1976, it started functioning in its present location. So far 24,967 recruits have been trained by successfully completing training of 74 recruit batches. Training of 75th recruit batch started with 322 recruits.

AC&S is located at Halishahar Cantonment in the outskirts of ‘Port City’, Chittagong. It is about 1 km east of the Bay of Bengal and 22 km north of Chittagong Airport. The postal address is:

Communication Means

By Road.
The institution is 03 km away from nearby bus station and well connected by road with Dhaka and other regions.


By Rail. Chittagong has the best possible railway communication with Dhaka and other parts of the country.

By Air. National carrier and private airlines operate everyday in Dhaka-Chittagong-Dhaka route.

Places of Interest

Ajana Shaheed Samadhi (memorial for unknown martyrs of our Liberation War), Smriti Amlan (Liberation War based museum), War Cemetery (memorial for martyrs of our WWII), Marine Academy, Foy’s Lake, Potenga Sea Beach. Besides these, Cox’s Bazar, the longest sea beach of the world, Kaptai artificial lake and hill stations of Rangamati and Bandarban can also be visited  from Chittagong.
